This is a unique and divine project, aimed to help the speech/ hearing-impaired  people of India, especially aimed at the poorest among the hapless children, hailing from the poor families. I came to know that there are approximately 3 crores of speech/hearing-impaired people in India, including people from all age groups, of which, at least 1.3 cores can be treated / operated and cured (by Cochlear Implantation). In most cases, say almost 99% of them, the speech is impaired because of their hearing problems. In most cases, especially in the cases of children below 5 years, if their hearing problems can be cured at the early stage, their speech also can be restored to normalcy very soon.

I had a vision from the Benevolent Almighty in this connection. I felt so sad that I could not do much / anything so far for the speech/hearing-impaired brethren around us. I am under the impression that people love me, mainly because I am in the divine field of Music and they like my songs and because they can hear, enjoy and assess my music and they can also compare my singing with that of others.  But, it pains me much that there are 3 crores of people in India alone, who cannot just hear or enjoy any such music. Leave alone that point, they cannot hear, they cannot speak, they cannot express what they want to express and so on. We can and we should help these hapless and helpless people.  I need your valuable guidance and strong support in all possible ways in this regard.

I came to know that many thousands of speech/hearing-impaired people in India can be helped by the Cochlear Implantation program and I am also given to understand that if the implantation can be done before a child attains 5 years of age, normal speech can be restored very easily.  I came to know that Your Excellency is very much interested in this Technology and that you have made valuable research and findings in excelling this program.  Hence this representation is submitted to you now.

We take to our heart the God-blessed voice of our brethren through our ears and we talk to our heart. If there is a will, … there is a way…..’.  So, if we all join hands together, we can definitely help those speech/hearing-impaired people. I really want to render my whole-hearted support, as in the case of heart patients for which I could do much through the Hridayathalam Project, jointly sponsored by the Divyakarunya Trust and Lions Club Int’l District 324-E4, by which we could save so far the lives of more than 140 heart patients, most of them hapless children hailing from the poor families.

Our initial target of Hridyathalam project was or the heart surgeries for 70 poor children only; but now our target is 700 as a result of tremendous support and the ever-flowing whole-hearted support from philanthropic people from all walks of life. Now we want to put one step forward by helping as many speech/hearing-impaired people as possible.  I am given to know that each Cochlear Implantation will cost not less that Rs. 7.50 lakhs per patient.

To start with, we have taken up the cases of two children hailing from the same family (of the same parents), 1. Alka Theresa, 4½ years and 2. Biyanka 2½ years, daughters of Mr. Jenson  & Mrs. Jency, Seethaparambu House, Maradu, Cochin- 682034.  The operation of the elder child was given priority and was conducted on 30th June 2010 by Dr. Muhammed Noushad, the leading ENT Surgeon of Cochin at his ENT Hospital & Research Centre, Vyttila, Cochin-19.  The operation of the younger child, Biyanka,  will also be arranged at the earliest. This project has the whole-hearted support from Mr. Thomas J. Poonolil of  ‘Ephphatha’ Speech & Hearing Centre, Poonkunnam, Thrissur, his wife Mrs. Manju Thomas Poonolil, Audiologist-cum-Speech Pathologist and from the renowned ENT Surgeon Dr. Muhammed Noushad.

We need and request your valuable guidance and strong support in all possible ways for the success of this divine project and also for spreading this program all over India.  We also request you to persuade the Central & State Governments, leading politicians and political parties, all like-minded people and also all philanthropic people from all walks of life, including firms, institutions and organizations as we are sure of your unlimited influence/contacts.
